Exploration 3: After
I was pretty content with this project, I've seen some of the things that my classmates have been working on and mine seems to look a lot different, which of course could be good or bad. If I could do anything differently I'd get a better light, I enjoyed the random hotspot on my piece but that made editing a lot harder. I used the ink as a last minute thing, I wish I would of had more thing so that I could of gotten a hang of how to control it better. Overall I was satisfied with my results.
Exploration 3: During
While working on my animation with clay, I was unable to get it the way I wanted to. My idea was that I was going to use clay and smear it on the paper to it looked like colors flying around. Unfortunately the clay stuck too much with the paper so every time I attempted to move the clay the paper would move and my whole scene would be ruined. I decided to discard my idea, go back to my dorm, and thing about some alternative choices. I decided to change my video to just plain waves reaching the shore and going back, I wanted to find a material that would feel like a liquid but that I'd be able to animate. Then it hit me, I could use water to animate my project along with ink. I though about how I could do it and decided that if I turned the camera into continuous mode then I'd be able to get quick pictures of the ink traveling through the water. I would then just have to pick out the pictures that I wanted then edit everything together. I went to the labs and realized that I had no clue how to switch the camera's into continuos while still making it work with Dragon Stop Motion. I also thought that the Motion Design department would appreciate me bringing ink and water to splash around. In a moment of desperation I ended up creating my own mini stop motion studio in my room.
It ended up working way better that expected and I was able to take the pictures with minor movement, all which I easily fixed in after effects. I had One light only and it was a bight orange light, as a result my animation eded up with a flickering orange tone to it. In my opinion the stop motion feel and the orange flicker work fairly well with the piece because it makes it look like an old stop motion short from the 50's.
Exploration 3: Before Project
When first starting my project I didn't really know what materials to use, I wanted to have some sort of slow movement so my main options were wind, waves, and smoke. At first I thought about making my project really colorful. I was going to use clay in some sort of way but I did't really know how. My idea was to have warm colors during the hectic part, followed my cool colors in the calm.

Exploration 2; Recap.
Before starting my project I had to create many guidelines so that my bouncing balls would be more precise and natural. I used stencils to try and keep the ball of my shape the same from slides to slide. especially during the stretch and squash parts. At first I thought that with all these thing that my project would be easy. As a result I ended up not doing it until a bit later than I should, this was of course a bad idea. My project ended up not working right at first because the guides were a bit wrong, when I thought I completed the animation I realized that my movement wasn't very fluid so I had to restart.
I kept trying to make my guides better and they still seemed a bit off, I took upon the decision of trying to do it freehand. My animation then ended up looking a lot better but sadly I had a lot of shakes in my movements. In the end my project turned out decent, if I cold do it again I would combine both my free hand tactic and the guide to make my movement more precise and clean.
